I was honoured to be able to document through photographs several events as part of Carleton University Art Gallery's (CUAG) series called Gatherings last summer.
Gatherings was a series of intimate, free, in-person community events focused on the arts. From workshops to performances, the events were a wonderful opportunity to get together, learn, exchange and be creative in an encouraging environment. All events took place on unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin territory.
If you missed these events, I highly encourage you to join the CUAG mailing list to stay in the loop. There are so many great opportunities right here in our community.
Timelines: Piano Performance and Conversation
Beverley McKiver and Debra Grass performed their suite for two pianos, a musical journey through Canadian history that puts the idea of reconciliation into action. A Q&A session moderated by Larissa Desrosiers followed the beautiful performance. More information here.
Cosmic Chemistry: Performances after The Baroness
Experimental choral performances featuring Gabriel Dharmoo and Kathy Kennedy improvising with vocalists from the Ottawa-Gatineau queer community. Co-presented with Qu’ART Ottawa and Music, Sound and Society in Canada. More information here.
Sketch & Stretch with Corinne Blouin / Arboretum
I was invited to photograph one of the 3 drop-in Sketch & Stretch sessions. It was the perfect late afternoon to be outside in a beautiful location, to relax and incorporate drawing and sketching activities led by artist Corinne Blouin. Corinne uses guided meditation and visualization with gentle stretching and movement. More information here
Collage Party with FEZA (Feza Lugoma @_fe.za_) and DJ Celestial (Celeste Alcena @passthevibes)/ Happy Goat Coffee Co.
This drop in art jam session was a great way to spend an evening - Creating and experimenting with collages, led by artist FEZA and with music by DJ Celestial. All supplies were provided. More information here.
